Website care
Website care plans for trades and local services. Hosting, security, edits, monitoring.
Not every site needs ongoing SEO. Sometimes you just need your website to keep working without you thinking about it. A Care Plan covers the boring-but-critical stuff: hosting, updates, security, backups, and the small edits that would otherwise eat your weekend.
It's run by the same person who understands your site. Not a junior on a ticket rotation. If something goes wrong, you email one address and you talk to someone who knows your stack, your content, and your customers.
The Care Plan assumes the technical SEO base is already sound. If you took on this site from a previous agency or freelancer and you have not had a proper technical audit in the past 12 months, the Technical SEO Foundation is the natural precursor. Most Care Plan clients are businesses whose SEO was already sorted and they just want the technical housekeeping covered. If you also want the ongoing SEO work alongside, that's the Local SEO retainer.
What’s included
The boring-but-critical work, done monthly
Managed hosting on a fast, UK-based stack (LiteSpeed, NVMe, free SSL)
Daily automated backups, with 30-day retention and one-click restore
Uptime monitoring with a same-day response on critical incidents
WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates on a weekly cadence (more often if a security release lands)
Security monitoring. File integrity checks, malware scans, login attempt alerting
A defined monthly allowance of small content edits (text changes, image swaps, hours updates)
Quarterly health report. What was done, what was caught, what to watch
Direct line to one person, not a ticket queue
DNS and domain renewal management
Optional: SEO monitoring, schema updates, performance tuning
How it works
Month-to-month, with a one-time onboarding audit
Before I take responsibility for keeping your site up, I need to understand what’s there. The onboarding audit is a one-time cost that covers a full review of your current site, the plugin/theme stack, the hosting setup, and a security baseline. After that, monthly care starts and stays predictable.
- Onboarding audit. One-time setup: I review the site, document what’s there, and migrate hosting onto my managed stack if it isn’t already.
- Steady-state care. Weekly updates, daily backups, uptime monitoring, and your monthly edit allowance. Most months are quiet. And that’s a feature, not a bug.
- Quarterly review. What was done, what was caught, what to plan for next quarter. A short written summary you can actually read in 2 minutes.
Pricing
£50–£150 / month
Three tiers depending on what you need. The cheapest is hosting-only with no edit allowance; the middle tier is the most common (hosting + updates + security + a small edit allowance); the top tier adds performance tuning and quarterly strategy time. Every plan is month-to-month.
No SEO work included: Care Plans keep your site working. If you also want it to rank, you need a separate SEO retainer. I’ll tell you straight which you need and which is overkill.
Common questions
Care plans, honestly answered
If your site goes down, I know about it before you do. I run a real uptime monitor, not a 'check it once a week' habit. Critical issues get a same-day response; minor issues get a response within one working day. You get a direct line, not a ticket queue.
Yes. Hosting is bundled into every plan. I run managed hosting on a fast, UK-based stack with daily backups and free SSL. You don't need to set up a separate hosting account or remember to renew anything.
I update WordPress core, plugins, and themes on a weekly schedule (more often if a security release lands). All updates are tested on a staging copy first, so a bad plugin update never reaches your live site unnoticed.
Small text changes, image swaps, adding a staff member, updating your hours, adding a new service to a list. Things that take 5–20 minutes each. Anything larger (a new page, a redesign of an existing one, a feature build) gets quoted separately at a fair rate, with your approval before any work starts.
Yes, after a one-time onboarding audit. I need to understand what's there before I take responsibility for keeping it up. The audit costs less than you'd expect and takes about a week; after that, monthly care can start.
The cheapest plan covers exactly that: managed hosting, daily backups, free SSL, and uptime monitoring. No update service, no content edits, no security monitoring. Most people want at least the middle plan though. A site with outdated WordPress and plugins is a security incident waiting to happen.
Month-to-month. No 12-month lock-in. If you stop needing the care, you stop paying: I'd rather earn your continued business than trap you in a contract you're unhappy with.
You get a full export of your site, your data, and your DNS configuration. The site is yours; the hosting stack is mine, but migrating to a new host is straightforward and I'll help with the transition if you want it.
