How the SRA price transparency rules can help your firm’s SEO

Since 2018, firms regulated by the SRA in England and Wales have had to publish price and service information for certain areas of work, including residential conveyancing and uncontested probate. Many firms treat it as a box to tick. It’s also one of the most useful things you can put on your site for search.

Clients search for prices

"Conveyancing fees" and "probate solicitor cost" are among the first things people search when they need a solicitor. A clear, specific price page answers that search directly. A PDF buried in the footer doesn’t.

Make the page useful

Set out your fees or fee ranges, what’s included, what isn’t, the likely disbursements, the key stages and roughly how long each takes, and who will handle the matter. That’s what the rules ask for, and it’s exactly what a client wants to know before they call.

One page per service

Conveyancing and probate are different searches with different clients. Give each its own price page, linked from the practice-area page, so both can rank.

Show the SRA badge

SRA-regulated firms are required to display the SRA’s clickable digital badge on their website. It’s a trust signal clients recognise, so put it where they’ll see it, not only in the footer.

Outside England and Wales

Firms in Scotland and Northern Ireland are regulated by their own Law Societies, and the SRA rules don’t apply. Publishing clear pricing still wins the same searches.

The thing that compounds in local SEO is the boring work of getting the fundamentals right, and keeping them right, month after month.
